Saturday

I went to sleep last night at 9ish and woke up at noon.  It felt so good to get so much sleep!!  Of course, I wish B was in bed cuddling with me, but he will be soon enough.  Once I was awake and ready for the day I swung over to the grocery store to get some ingredients to make gooey butter cake and spiced cookies with cream cheese frosting for tonights farewell BBQ over at the COs house.

I don't have a picture of the spice cookies, but I just used my beloved cake batter cookie recipe and simply used spice cake mix instead.  Once the cookies cool I'll frost them up with some cream cheese frosting (I just googled a recipe, noting fancy).

B went out with his uncle (who is a Marine pilot) last night and I guess they just got beyond wasted.  So B is huddled up in his bed, wishing he were dead from how hungover he is.  And it serves him right.  It just annoys me when he gets like that, and I wasn't even there!

Guest blog post and weekend recap

Good afternoon, ladies!  Happy news: Stephanie, over at While I'm Waiting, needed some guest bloggers while she is on vacation with her Marine BF in Florida (I know, so lucky).  My post will be up on Saturday, so get excited!  I'm personally looking forward to reading everyone else's posts so I can find more blogs to follow (is that creepy?).

This weekend was really great!  On Friday after work my friend, A, called me to grab some frozen yogurt.  While stuffing our faces, we decided we should go out to the bars.  So we split up to get ready (and tell B that we were going out), and A and her friend, J, met us at our house and the four of us went down to Carlsbad.  The night got a little lot fuzzy after the first bar, so B took me home around midnight (B and I don't drink like we did in college, so 3 vodka-red bulls got me pretty drunk).

Saturday morning was spend recovering and then A and I went shopping.  I just had to pick up the jeans and tank I bought from Macy's last week, and A needed some fall boots.  Well, we walked past a pet store and just had to go in to play with the puppies.  I made and b-line for the rottweiler puppy, and she went for the malti-poo.  Very long story short, 3 hours later she had adopted her little fur-ball baby!!  His name is up in the air still, but he is so tiny and NOT a puppy mill pup.  The pet store buys from private breeders and adopts from the local humane societies.
So A had a new family member, and our future puppy, Mac, will have a little playmate!

Saturday night B and I drove down to Miramar to take a friend out to dinner.  We found out that he is planning on proposing to his girlfriend in a few months...so exciting!!  I love engagements!

Today was a lazy Sunday.  We went to church and B is currently working on his Harley with a guy from work.  The guy brought his daughter over, so we made cookies and have been watching Spongebob.  We made Brown-sugar cookies, which I found on Pintrest.  They are so amazing!!
I skipped the frosting because I wasn't ready to let an 8 year old mix melted butter and sugar...just too messy to clean up if the bowl got spilled!  But I might frost them this evening and give them to B to take to work.

I hope yall had a great weekend!  Any one do anything fun?  Read any good books lately?  Find some awesome deals?

Soft Brown Sugar Cookies Recipe

2-1/2 c. all-purpose flour

Happy Monday!

Today is off to a great start!  Insanity was really tough this morning...my quads got a major work out!  I remeasured myself yesterday and lost an inch in my waist and hips, but grew in my arms and thighs (which I'm actually fine with-it's just muscle!).  In these two weeks I KNOW I've gotten stronger, which is a huge confidence boost!

After working out I waited for B to get to work so I could say good morning and get a hug and kiss.  The ONLY thing I hate about morning work outs is that we miss our morning cuddling.  Sad face.  So anyways, I told B that I would bake lots of goodies for his guys-which is what I'm doing right now!  The house smells delicious, and I might have eaten a few bited of cookie dough while I was waiting for my oatmeal to cool off.

Speaking of which, one of the reasons that today has already been so great is that my favorite oatmeal, BetterOats, was on sale 5 for $5!  I was so excited!
These are the three I've had so far, and they are so so good.  If you shop at Albertson's, go hunt these bad boys down!!

The cookies I'm making are Cake Batter Cookies.  I found them via Pintrest (duh), but click in the link to go straight to the blog they are from!  I've never made cookies using cake batter as a base before, and the dough was a bit oily.  But I just ate one fresh from the oven, and it is pretty yummy!  I used yellow cake mix and 1/2c. of chocolate chips and 1/2c. butterscotch chips.  The next batch will be with french vanilla cake mix and the full cup of chocolate chips.  I also baked the second dozen for 8 minutes instead of 10 and they came out much better-I like my cookies chewy and not browned on the bottom.  I'm not sure what the next two batches of cookies will be... possibly some Hello Dollies or something with sweetened condensed milk since I have like 3 extra cans of the stuff!

If you have any cookie recommendations let me know!
